Local Area Network (LAN) Print Services

LAN Print Service Offering Definition (SOD)

LAN Print Services Roles and Responsibilities

Local Area Network (LAN) Print Services, otherwise known as "local" print, as provided by the DET portion of Output Management, is an offering that needs to be kept as close as possible to end users to best meet their needs.  Decisions regarding the number, type, and make of output devices are best made within the different agencies as they are decisions specific to the particular business requirements of each agency.  These decisions naturally include owning the support and maintenance contracts for the output device and its connection to the Print Server.

LAN Print Services provides print-related functions which require administrative credentials on the DET Managed Windows Print Servers.  These functions otherwise could not be delegated because of limitations within the Microsoft server operating system. The LAN Print Services provisioning and incident workflow diagram can be found here.
